Electroencephalography
The electroencephalography (EEG) test records the electrical activity of the brain by placing caps with electrodes (sensors) on the scalp. This activity is different when we are awake or asleep, so it is important, particularly in children, to record an EEG while awake and while asleep.
The main indications for EEG are epilepsy (suspected or diagnosed, for characterization and therapeutic guidance), changes in the state of consciousness, cognitive changes and sleep disorders.
